When and how can I buy Scrip?
Order forms are sent home weekly. Orders are filled the same school day they are received and sent home with your eldest child.

Scrip is also available
  • in the school lobby, Friday from 3:00-3:15 p.m.
  • after the 9:30 a.m. Sunday Mass
  • from the Rectory Office, Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-Noon and 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. (Martins and Krogers only durng the school year; full inventory during the summer)

How does the school make money from me shopping?
St. Jude purchases gift certificates and gift cards at a discount from regional grocers, gas stations, clothing stores, restaurants and more.  The school sells them to you at face value, and the difference is profit to the school.

What are the shopping cards worth?
Whatever the face value you pay is available to spend.  Buy a $25 restaurant gift card, you pay St. Jude $25 and you have $25 to spend at the restaurant.  The program costs you nothing.

Where can shopping cards be used?
We currently have 3 local grocery stores and over 40 retailers on hand. A large selection of additional specialty stores is added during the holiday season.

How much money can we raise?
It's really up to you. Even if all of our school families used the program just for the groceries and gas you already know you’ll have to purchase, the money raised could be used to fund almost anything for the school.

What if I don't spend the full amount of the card?
Generally the remaining amount stays on the card to use on your next visit.

Does it cost anything for me to participate?
NO. There's no registration fee and you pay the same amount you would normally pay to shop. THE CATCH?  You have to plan ahead and buy your shopping cards before you go to the store.

When Are Tuition Credits Distributed?
Scrip credits are calculated once each year. Scrip purchases from June 1 through May 31 are applied to the following year’s school tuition in the fall of the following year.

Why is the program so successful?
  • Participating retailers are stores where you shop now.
  • You can help St. Jude School without spending any extra dime.
  • Retailers build strong consumer loyalty and are assured of sales.

What does SCRIP mean anyway?
Shopping Card Refund Incentive Program.  It was started by a Catholic School in California, where their first year earnings of $30,000 stopped the closing of the school.

Are my purchases tax deductible?
No, because you get the full face value of the gift certificate and shopping card.
